April Holidays

April Holidays

I hope these ideas are fun and get your creative juices going concerning things you can do with your family and others.

Since it is National Mathematics Education Month, have a math party. Decorate with numbers and math signs. Have math contests like you did when you were in school. Make numbers out of food. For example, arrange brownies, fruit or vegetables in the shape of a number.

April 9 go to the library. It is National Library Day.

April 10 is National Sibling Day. Have your children pick a name of one of their siblings and have them do special things for the one they picked. You could do special things for your own siblings.

April 13 have a Scrabble-a-thon. Invite people over to play Scrabble. Have a few boards depending on how many attend. Keep track of scores for each game. The person with the highest score will get a prize.

April 15 take your children to McDonald’s in commemoration of its opening in 1955.

April 16 is National Eggs Benedict Day. Make Eggs Benedict for whatever meal you choose.

April 19 is Humorous Day. Leave jokes around the house in places your family can see. Put them in their lunch. Tell each other jokes. Laugh with each other.

April 25 make zucchini bread and give it away or take it to work.

April 26 make homemade pretzels.

April 27 is Tell a Story Day. At the dinner table or in a relaxed atmosphere sit with each other and tell stories. You can make them up, tell stories you have read or about your life.

It might be good to ask grandparents or some older people to tell stories from when they were younger.
